2x weber on a 1.6

hi all
i have been thinking if it was possibelt to put 2x weber on my 1.6 murena  for more power and better looks ,,,,,
can i use a intake manifold from a simca or talbot ...... if so .... witch model ....

The simplest way to do this is to fit the manifold and carbs from a Bagheera. These are downdraught Webers, but I don't remember the type. They are tuneable and spares are available. I don't know what kind of power can be expected - probably very little more than the engine delivers originally, but it will look good

This means "Inlet manifold for 2 Weber 40/45 DCOE (Murena 1600)", and HT means that there's no VAT on the price. AFAIR the french VAT is some 17%, but I'm not sure.

And on top of that you need to add all the ancillaries... carburettors, linkage, horns, filters/airbox etc etc etc

Like Anders says, the absolut easiest thing to do, is to put on the webers from the Bagheera. The inlet manifold fits, since it is the same engine. The Bagheera-Webers are twin DCNF 36 A+B. The 1294 ccm. engine produces 84 bhp. The 1442 ccm. engine produces 90 bhp, and that is the same as the 1,6 (1592 ccm) standard Murena. So maybe on a good day it will give you an extra 3-6 bhp.

Just remember to du it for the looks, and the noise... you won't feel a 6 hp power difference.
And remember. twin carbs only yeld extra power at high revs.. thus in everyday driving you will only notice the sound.... and the increase in fuel consumption.

Sometimes even not. If you calculate the cross section of the inlet through a DCOE40 with 32 venturis and compare it with the twin inlets in the single carb (whichever carb it is) you may find that the single carb allows more air through than the sidedraught - i.e. it will allow the engine to rev higher.

But correctly set up, the twin carbs will give better throttle response around torque maximum, and the fact that there will be acceleration pumps spraying to the individual cylinder port instead of fighting condensation in the manifold, will probably also make it more responsive in the lower range.

And performance isn't everything: Looks and sound rate high as well, don't they?

will an intake minifold from a simca 1100 rally fit ..... ?
and does any body have a intake manifod fron a bagheera for sale ....
