I've just purchased a 1965 (?) djet. Advertised as a 5S but the current owner does not have a title. Used extensively as a vintage race car 7-8 years ago.
Where would I look to find the serial numbers on the car?
Also, can you recommend sources for spares?
I am located in Ohio (USA).
Thanks
Larry

Hi Larry, congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the forum. It's always good to hear about Matra's finding new good homes, and especially a D'Jet, which is a rare and very beautiful car!

Thanks. Glad to hear from other owners.
I found two numbers: one on a plate riveted toward the back of  the front hatch. Stamped 1209. A second on a small disk on the LH side of the front trunk. Same number stamped there. The engine is an 804 Gordini with twin Webers. Stamped *1215* . The car was converted to a vintage racer about ten years ago. Chassis is in very nice shape with heim joints on the steering rack and front suspension. Body is fair. Marchal headlanps are missing...I'd like to replace those as well as the plastic covers (those were painted over...one broken). I also need one of the Marchal fog lamps, and a set of original wheels. Rear glass replaced with plexiglas. I assume that's impossible to find. Any suggestions welcome. Located in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

Pardon me for hijacking this thread...

Thanks for sharing the link, Philippe! I have wondered who was behind the recreation of the 640, and their photo story about the recreation is really interesting! i never realised before that this car had a flat underbody! It was definitely years ahead in this respect. It's funny to see that the front page of the paper with (down?) force calculations, that the designer had anticipated the car to have a rear wing of the type then used on F1 cars. The exhaust system is also magnificent:

Unfortunately, the car isn't displayed well on the museum, where all the details are well hidden under the body and the car is in a corner, so you can only admire it from the front:

Hi Larry

Congrats with your car

When i owned the Djet that Henrik now has restored I got a fair bit of parts from www.koutauto.nl who's also had a few Djets through his hands. I went to Holland to visit the shop and got a very good treatment from Mr Kout who is very knowledgeable about the Djets

I have a number of links to various Djet related websites so send me a direct mail and I will pass on,  ejensby@yahoo.dk

Good luck with the Djet its a wonderful car

Erik

Hi Larry. This is Vic. I've had a DJET V here in SoCal since 1984. Mines a stocker with the 1108 Renault (Non-Gordini); it's a complete car, but all apart...Hopefully I'll have some time to put her all together in the near future. Good luck with you project!
