Hi there and welcome to the forum. That sounds like an excellent christmas gift for a true enthusiast :D
I don't know what radio was fitted to the Murena originally... a Blaupunkt, perhaps? Perhaps one of our other members knows?

There's a few 80's Blaupunkt radios on eBay, e.g. this one:

There is a Sharp radio cassette in mine that is free to a good home if anyone wants it! Not sure if it was factory fitted but I doubt if murenas would have come with a Blaupunkt as standard. :)

Just looked in the old selling folder.
Standard delivery without radio or cassetteplayer, but the car was prewired for it.
Also the antenne was with the car.
It was possible to order a kit of speakers and a radio.
In the Netherlands the radio was standard Philips with or without cassetteplayer, depending how much you wouldt like to spend.
The typenumber I was not able to find out yet.

Hallo everybody

I am looking for a orginal Radio, from a Matra Murena 2,2 produced in 1982.

** There never was any radio fitted to the Murena from the factory.**

The car was fitted with roof aerial, speakers, wiring, suppression, and a blanking plate where the radio would fit.  The choice of set was up to the first owner.  The wiring plug behind the blanking plate was the type that would fit most Blaupunkt of the time but simply had the power, earth, and speaker wire terminals and could easily be adapted to any set.
The blanking plate had a Blue Spot on it which was the Blaupunkt symbol of course...

(As I had my car from new, I still have my blanking plate)

I also have the blanking plate, but without the Bluepunkt mark.
I think it depends wich country the car was sold.
The 1.6 did not have the speakers and antenne.
The 2.2 did according to my selling folder.

Correction is hereby officially accepted ;D

I like your old Philips radio. It would look splendid in a Murena!

I was thinking of fitting the old Philips in the Murena myself, but I like my new Pioneer to much.

With MP3 and USB connection.
It was a gift from my daughter, but I was not happy with the fact, it is joystick operated.
Because of age, and to much booze in the past, my hand is not steady enough to operate it relyable.
This radio has a conection, (mini jack plug) to work with the modern cars that has operation buttons on the steering wheel.
Not much use in the Murena.
I found out that playing with resistors at the jack plug, I couldt operate the radio.
I remembered that back in the 80s/90s, Sony had something similair.
Some research at the internet I found this.

Typenumber RM-X2S
This is still new to find for around €10-15
I fitted it in my Murena, and it works like a charm.

Almost all functions work, on/off, seek up/down, ff/rw, next/previous, map up/down, source selection, so perfect for me.
I can operate my radio much better now.
Now it is also possible to fit the radio out of sight, but then I wil mis the display.
It is possible because the settings are pre-programmed, but I think I wil let it stay the way it is now.
I feel like Jonah, only my fish looks different.

nice unit, - especially the USB feature.

Many years ago (97), I fitted a Sony minidisc unit in my car, but even if it came with a similar steering column "remote", my arms are long enough that I can easily reach the radio almost without moving in the seat, so I have never fitted it :-)

ps: The unit has a dark front, and a round volume knob, making is appear less modern - see e.g. http://www.nodevice.com/images/sm/big/2008_08_09_14_50_26/5658_1.jpg

Problem with al these modern units is, that they don't fit so good in the Murena.
There is not much room behind the dash for it because of the ventilation.
I still consider to move the radio out of sight and only mount  the display to the front.
But there are a few hunderd things, that have more priority ::)

I'm thinking of putting a Parrot Asteroid car-radio in the Murena. It works wonderful in the Avantime, and the looks are very simple. I don't like the modern styled radios with too much lights....

A retro car-radio would look great in a Murena I think, but it should be a radio sold around the early 80's. An other idea might be to try and convert a radio of your likes so that when you take away the front you can place an original blanking plate over it. Would be rather original!
