That's a very rare beast you have there. Roy may know something about these engines?, which I think are based on the Simca block, but with a custom cylinder head. What kind of documentation are you looking for? I'd very much like to hear more about your car.

And a warm welcome to the forum!

The Murena's won the French rally championships in 1982 and 83 I think, so they did very well Smiley

Hard to believe that someone would just leave such a car outside to rot.

And oh!. how cool it would be if those 16valve heads could be reproduced.

Yes eric.. I saw that pic on the Dutch forum some time ago.
It would be awesome if they could still be had..
But it would probably be much easier to simply fit another engine....  Undecided

Or you could start with this injection system from Politecnic.  Grin

I think that it is normal that after the racing seasons nobody cares about the used racing cars. Some years will pass before some enthusiast wants to save the cars.
I presently read that SAAB in the good old days converted there ex-rally cars back to standard specifications and sold them as normal second hand cars in order to save money.
One of the ex- SAAB rally cars has a few years beck been purchased by some enthusiasts from an old lady who used for her daily transport, and the car was again converted to its original rally specifications!

I am envious  Wink Did you convert the original engine or replace it with one that already had injection?

If you converted, what else was involved, besides mounting the new intake manifold and the injector system?

If you search the forum there's a post about the whole thing somewhere... but what I did was to fit the throttle bodies to the manifold what was used for the twon carbs on the car when I bought it. (politec one I think.. it doesnt have the "angle " of the standard S manifold).
Then I had a distributor from a 505 turbo fitted with a pickup to enable sequential ignition/injection, and finally it was fittet with a programmable ecu to control the lot..

Conclusion : It doesnt feel any faster than before... it has better response than with the carbs.. slightly better fuel economy... but its definitely not worth the cost.
