I was just doing a small checkup on various small things on my car and I noticed that the coolant hose connecting the bottom of the header tank and the coolant pipe on the front side of the engine had been rubbing against the gearchange mechanism on top of the gearbox. This must be particular to the 2.2 with the large header tank.

I think it has done so all the time I've had the car, and perhaps even most of it's life? Fortunately the hose is still intact, but it's due for replacement: It has a very soft pit around where the mechanism has been working up and down and rotating  Shocked

So check yours, and replace if necessary Smiley

I had the same issue, I cured this by using a zip tie by wrapping it round the pipe above, this lifts the pipe away from the gear linkage nicely..  easy fix.

Yes, that's the right way to prevent rubbing. My hose is well damaged now, however, so I have to fix it anyway.
