Me again...Savo

I had the electronic warning Light appear (the one that looks like a heart beat monitor) on my dash board, it is a 2.2dci the only thing that happened different was i let the fuel go down realiy low the fuel warning light came on and stopped on, i re-fueled and carryed on to my destination (about 2 miles) when i restarted and drove about 100 meters the electronic warning light came on ? it is a manual so it cant be the gearbox the engine runs fine no loss of power ? what else can it be ? I have stoped and then restarted it and it has not appeared again, will i do any harm to the car if i keep using it ? Undecided

Help needed Thanks .

Savo

Thanks for the picture! Great car you have.

You have to have an engine diagnosis computer connected to the vehicle to read out fault codes. They will be able to tell you what's wrong.

If the warning does not reappear, you will not harm the car.

Periodic faults can be difficult to find, fortunately the computer should store information about the problem even after it went away, so I suggest you take it to a Renault garage where they have the proper diagnostics tools.

Just to keep you chaps informed -
my 2.2dci is going in to have the ...
(pain in the arse) ERG valve changed next week, having tried the method that lennart suggested, got fed up with lack of power and the fault/service light showing up, As the car is still under warranty it will be changed.
I will you keep you all posted, ( and see if the MPG changes)

Had a new EGR Valve fitted seems to be alot better, performance and torqe is much improved, MPG is still under question but it does seem better.

Good to hear, try to keep the EGR valve clean in the future. Lennarts trick with the pedal is likely to be the simplest way to do it, but a "selbst schrauber" would probably want to remove the valve every 6 months and clean it throughly.
What is your MPG value down to these days?
Are you using the on-board computer to calculate it, or measuring km's between tankings? The computer can be very imprecise as it doesn't measure the actual flow of fuel, only estimates it from the theoretical amount passing through the injectors.
And the warning light is off now?

Hi Savo!

"Selbst schrauber" is german for someone who turns screws on his car himself. "DIY'er", I beleive it's called in the UK? Smiley

I have a picture of the EGR valve lying around somewhere, I'll try to dig it up Wink
