Hi to all,
My air bag symbol seems to be coming on alot now on start up.
Before it would come on sometimes but now it comes on everytime time I start the car up. It comes on and stays on until I crank the engine. So the 'OK' symobl doesn't appear now due to the airbag symbol staying on.
Any ideas or places to look, it does disappear as soon I start the engine.

Regards Jag

Hi Jag

You have a problem in your airbag system. There are a couple of likely causes: Airbag module could be at fault, a connector has a bad connection, a wire is broken etc. If your car has side airbags, they are known to cause problems with the connection because the connector and/or the wiring under the seat fails.

I suggest you take it to Renault to have a check done on faults from on the airbag system.

Cheers

I have that problem to...but it's bad connection  under the seat. Remove front seats, remove unplug the battery, disconnect connectors, clean it, use some kind of contact spry and put it back together. It should be OK  Wink

I get the airbag symbol about once every 3 months. However one time it just kept coming on about 5 times in a row.
I sat in the right hand side passenger seat, rotated the seat 90 degrees and back again, then slid it back and forth a couple of times. That did the trick, its been OK ever since with just the usual error symbol once every 3 months or so which is normal I believe.
I just restart the engine when it occurs and the next start is ok.
I read somewhere it was a connection in a cable to the seat-belt tensioner that was the cause

My car has been suffering from problems on the airbag system for years, especially on the side airbags. I think I have found the problem now: The connector in the airbag module wasn't fixed well. The handle probably couldn't keep it in and even broke off when I refitted the connector. I hope this strip will keep it in place so we can drive through Europe without the annoying airbag "beeeep" from the dash.
