Now we will see, where is the real value of nice Murena 2,2 Wink

http://cgi.ebay.de/Matra-Murena-super-schicker-Sportwagen_W0QQitemZ120528984907QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobile?hash=item1c10165b4b

we all know lot of adverts with sci-fi prices, but how much is the real price which buyers are able to pay? I think, that Murena 1,6 in average condition is between 2 - 3000,- Eur, Murena 2,2 could be around 5000,- E and "S" version is about 8000,- E max. Of course, we're speaking about nice cars, tuned or Ferrarised vehicles have no value. How much will be the sale price of this one on ebay? Make a tips Wink

My tip is 4250,- Eur  Cool

Check out eBay France, where there are 7 Murenas for sale. Prices range from 3600€ for a1.6 to 7900€ for a "S" plus parts. Cheapest Murena 2.2 is 3900€.

But these are annonces - not auctions Wink Price in annonce could be 40.000,-Eur but nobody will pay that. Auction is the reality = how much you can get when you'll decide to sell.

Looks tidy enough in the pictures.  Shame about the stripes on the seats - they would do my head it!  Not a great time to be selling sportscars so I would be surprised if he made 4K.

Whats with the "Sportwagon" name?  I have a genuine Sportwagon and it look nothing like a murena Smiley

A smart buyer ( moi  Grin) would check the market and discover that he/she can get a 2.2 for 3900€ on ebay.fr. The smart buyer would not pay more than that. The smart seller in this auction has a reserve price. Let us see if it will be met.  Cheesy

Murenas seldom sell for what they are actually worth.. simply due to the fact that they are completely forgotten. Thus there are very few people looking to buy one.
Take the white Murena that was sold here on the forum about ½ a year ago.. It was in great shape, but still it was "for sale" for ages, and had to drop in price before it found a new (happy?) owner Smiley

I gave 4500 euros(without Danish tax) for mine back in 2006, and I still think that was a very fair price.(for me Smiley ) Since then I have seen "Worse" cars sell for more.
Still I wouldn't be surprised if the car in question wont see bets go higher than about 3000.

Hmm, very interesting discusion  Wink and I fully agree with You Krede, that they are forgotten. And also people have fear of accesibility/price of spares. The best way to sell it for much more is to be showing the car at meetings, tuning shows, etc. When guys with Golfs, Opels, Skodas, etc. which they bought for 3 - 5000,-Eur see Murena, they all think that its value is somewhere around 10.000,-E. Three years ago, when I said to one of them, that my silver 2,2 is for sale for 6000,-E, the car leaved my garage after 4 days! Now I have 10000,-E offer for my "S" from one rich enthusiast which I've met at some youngtimer meeting, but I don't want to sell it.
It seems that e-bay, in this case, is better for buyers than for sellers...

The seller didn't show close up and imperfections in his pics, therefore I think the car looks better then it really is.
Also he mentioned oil leaks (pretty normal), but think it will be heavy leakage.
It's always funny how owners talks mostly about minor problems, but when you go look at the cars it turns out major.

I saw in the Netherlands several Murena's sold, therefore I made a list of common prices.
€1000-2500 Totall rubbish and major work on the car.
Around €4000.- with work but reasonable condition.
€6000.- Good but not show condition, little work.
€8000 or more perfect car or better.

2.2 or 1.6 prices is little difference.
2.2S you can ad 1000-1500 to the price.
The car for sale on Ebay I taxed not higher then €4000.- if engine ok.
If engine leakage is due underpressure it will be no more then 2000

Yahh Oetker... I think your list is pretty much spot on. Though I fear that even a very good Murena will struggle to fetch 8000 euroes on ebay unless its a true "S". And even then(who wants to bid on a car you haven't seen let alone driven? )

Still,as you say Oetker... if you mention an oil leak in the add you are either very thorough, or you acknowledge that the leak has to be attended to....soon!
The rear trailing arms are not mentioned.. so they might be rotten..and if so..  Undecided

The two things this car really had going for it, was the new upholstery, and the paintjob.
Here in Denmark you often see cars from US car clubs (muscle cars) in great "mechanical" condition, but with dodgy paint on them, simply because the expense to have a car painted properly is HUGE!
If the murena in the ad had a proper paint job, that might be worth something, but I will almost guarantee you this is not a professional job.
(it almost never are on Murenas, they are too cheap "to be worth it" for most people)...so..

I really REALLY don't like the colours chosen for the seats, and they look "home made" too.

Finally... winter tires?. That says a lot about how this car has been used.
I drove my Murena for ONE winter.. and ONE winter only. It is very hard on such an old car and I just couldn't get myself to treat My murena.... My Prreeeeeeeeeecious like that any more  Smiley

This car is clearly in daily use, and I think needs work after 10 year use.
I saw Murena's on pictures that looked a beauty, but looking at the cars there were so much paint and polyester imperfections, that the car needed a spray.
That alone cost €3500 overhere for a job by the book for polyester, using the right materials.
And indeed, you can't buy a car wich is not looked at and driven.
