6     3236 (Bagheera #6 also donated to a MECUK member. This car had an original Hodec name plate - I forget the number). I wonder why is this number so far out of sequence??

This just remind me something I forgot to mention here.
About a month ago, a commando of 4 members of the association Bagheera-café made a 2 days raid.
We worked without interuption and came back with more than 2500 pictures.

All the Bagheera production, except the last year (1980)
(1980 file is presumed hijacked by a Murena specialist)
The purpose was initially to use an OCR and fill a database but ...
my experience is thatit takes 1 hour of work by picture to do this.

Since then, if someone is interested, I'm willing to make the effort and provide a certificate of original configuration.
Example here : http://nsm03.casimages.com/img/2010/03/27/100327032444451315712871.jpg

Since it requieres an awfull lot of time to find back a specific car, I'd ask a modest contribution :
5 € for a pdf certificate mailed to you
7 € for a heavy paper print + postage

Beware, there can be some surprises
For instance a bagheera chassis number 00006 revealed to be not so old
There can be errors
One of my bagheera was recorded with a wrong colour

And of course this is also valid for a Rancho (until 1979)

I would very much like a "Certificate of original confiruration" for Baggy Joe as I am discussing with the MSA whether the Bagheera was a "Special Production" or "Series Production" car. That certificate might help me.

The British don't believe that the Bagheera was available from UK Simca dealers despite the original invoice we have from when we purchased baggy Grey in 1977/8. I also have original advertising from Chrysler UK and articles in magazines.

PayPal or Euro money notes in the mail?

Well well...

It seems that BaggyJoe is a German Bagheera.

Not as BaggyGrey.

You might want to dismantle this famous plate with the battery cut off

So, in order to help should we produce certificates for other UK cars ?

I had always suspected that he was German having grease nipples on the rear trailing arms. Germany might have been his first home but he is now Anglo-French. He had a blood transfusion last year, mainly mine!

Gute Fahrt,

et Bon nuit!

et Bon weekend (near Spa) to all your Matristi visitors. We shall be thinking of you while we compete to uphold the honour of a World Champion Manufacturer (against all the British MG and Healy models).

The certificate of original configuration Spyros emailed to me on Tuesday was already impressive with the amount of detail it included!

I am amazed that all this information has been available and but not made accessible to owners and clubs.

I assume we have to thank the members of "Bagheera Cafe" for taking the time and effort to bring it to us? It must have been a lot of work with 40,000+ Bagheeras manufactured!

The only enhancement I might suggest, to convince doubters better, would be some small print explaining where, when and how this information was obtained and some contact details of the source (e.g. name, phone number and email address). A date of issue of the certificate would be a nice addition. EN/ISO 9000 and all that!

About 16 hours sitting and either turning pages or pressing the digital camera trigger. (4 people)

Followed by weeks - months of analysis (far from complete)
Plenty of discoveries, especially on the models, colors ...

Your wishes have been fullfilled in the one I'll give you today.
But, the gardians are not keen to let everyone approach this since the 1980 + years have dissapeared and are now in private hands (Murena years)
Also there are contents that we were asked not to picture or to talk about.

More to come as you'll see

Hello everyone,

Spyros hasn't logged onto the forum since 2014 so I doubt a PM to him will elicit a response.

Does anyone know how to obtain this certificate or its information?

Thank you,

Luis

Luis, a copy of the Certificat of Conformité as it was called, should be available from the Matra Museum in Romorantin-Lanthenay.  They certainly have copies of those for the Murena and i have had copies from them.  I expect they would have copies of the Bagheera ones too.  Often they will provide copies free or for a minimal price.

These were a legal requirement when the cars were built and contain all the relevant type specifications.

Thank you Roy.  I spent some time paging through the Matra museum website and I see no way of procuring that kind of information remotely.  However, the secretary of the Bagheera Cafe did reply to an email I sent him and upon providing all the relevant numbers for my Bagheera they can come up with the production details I seek.  But I have to wait until the car arrives from Italy, sometime in mid December since I am missing the number that hides under the bonnet edge on the front left.

For everyone else and as a way of introducing the car and myself, here is "the story"...

I bought a Bagheera S of 1976 very recently. If you were at Auto e Moto in Padua in October, you may have seen it. It is a very well preserved car with low kilometers and, it seems to me, all the original interior in very good condition. That's what caught my attention, and the color of course, since I wasn't planning to buy a Bagheera in Padua ...

I live in Wisconsin, USA and am interested in iconic European vintage cars. I have a few Italians and Germans and the Bagheera will be my 3rd French car: I have a 1979 2CV since 2010. I also recently acquired a Renault R5 Turbo from 1981 and I hope that the Gallic siblings in my garage will warmly welcome the little Bagheera when it arrives from Italy in a few weeks.

I do all the maintenance and repairs on my cars and very much enjoy that aspect of the hobby. It seems to me that there is a good supply of parts for these cars and many knowledgeable people on several forums to help me on this adventure. I also hope to contribute as I learn more about it.
