I noticed today that the right hand front indicator light has a lot of small cracks all over it.
The Left side has a few too. Even a corner is broken, as if someone punched it.
Is this just a sign of old age? or has someone been messing with my motor?

I see these lights are available for £29 + post. Does anyone know if all Espaces, 97-02 have the same clear plastic appearance? 1 size fits all.

I think it's due to the plastic getting old due to UV light and temperature cycling. I haven't seen this severe before, though.
No, not all Espace have the same clear plastic front indicator lamps. I think pre-00 models will have the original ones which aren't clear. Only the appearance is different, though.

Yes it could well be temperature cycling. Im pretty sure there were no cracks at all a few weeks ago, and now suddenly after a visit to a workshop, both sides are cracked. I dont think the workshop visit could have caused this. Occasionally I've scraped, or hacked ice off the indicators, that may have started it off.
I washed the car 2 weeks back and Im pretty sure they were crack free, so perhaps water penetrated in and expanded when frozen

Seen this many times on various aged Renaults with similar Valeo lights, also on my Espace before i replaced them. Its age, sun, and probably wet and cycling temperatures. And sometimes i surprice myself in finding such "faults" as they "suddenly" appeared, but by studying good pictures taken in the past i can see it present.

If ordering new, be aware that other manufacturers copy Valeo lights to sell cheap, if you want the best fit etc - order Valeo. These clear ones are fitted from 07/2000 (some catalogs say 10/2000)

2 new Valeo lights are now on their way in the post for the reasonable sum of 98euro inc post and taxes.
