hi guys

wanting to get some info on tuning the engine of my 1994 2.1 Diesel espace. i've not had it long and have no history on it, and judging from what i've seen of it lately, i'm guessing its had little or no recent servicing over its 238,000 mile lifetime. It does run quite well, however sometimes when approaching junctions etc (when driving and the engine speed drops to idle) it has a tendancy to stall. I'm suspecting it needs a bit of a tune up, but as I havn't dabbled in this much before, i thought it best to seek advice before doing it.

Basically i want to increase the fuelling slightly so that it runs a bit stronger, and maybe up the turbo boost to compensate. I'm aware its a simple task, but wouldn't like to adjust the wrong bolt and blow my car up.

any indication as to what to adjust would be helpful.

Not much you can do on these.
Change the oil & flush the old oil out, change filters.
Yes remove the egr for cleaning, it will need it. I use oven cleaner to help decoke my egr.

EGR systems on diesels are a major pain! Clean out the EGR valve and the air ducts.
I have no experiance with the Espace diesel but would disable the EGR System.
Put in a blank gasket somewhere or if it is vacuum operated block the vacuum line.
Usually with older cars you can get away with this without any problem.
But it might be a MOT failure in some countries.

Thanks for replies. Not really done anything with egr before (I know I should have done in past buy hey ho) and Haynes isn't very helpful. Any pointers what to look for?

Also, on tip of the fuel pump, there is the part that has a torx screw and locking nut. Does this not alert the fuel ratio? And is it possible to increase the turbo maximum pressure?

Thanks
