Just bought a 1993 Espace 2.0i 8v with a misfire, which I've traced to the wiring to number 3 injector .

It appears to be delivering a very weak & almost constant power supply to the number 3 injector connector, instead on pulsing on/off like the other injector power supplies. I assume it is shorting somewhere but could do with a wiring diagram for the injection wiring to help point me in the right direction - please can someone help?benj01584@aol.com

Has anyone had the same thing happen and know a common place for the wiring to short out?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kind regards, Ben.

hi Ben

The wires are relatively short on your car. I think the wiring for the injectors pass in the front of the engine, over the cam belt cover and to the computer which is sitting in the left side of the engine room (when viewed from inside).

It is not difficult to fix this as all injectors run in parallel.

I have a wiring diagram of it at home that I can post later today.

Cheers,
Anders

Here it is, alas in french, but I'm sure you can wokr it out and now you have the pin out for the ECU so you can trace your fault.

Good luck!

Just a quick note to say we couldn't find the injrctor wiring fault - everything looks ok, no pinched wires, loose connections or chafing BUT after putting the protection back on the wiring loom the car would not start at all! It turns over ok but does not start. It's now at a local small garage to see if they can repair it  Cry
Any suggestions?

That was annoying!

Is the petrol pump running for a short while when you turn on the ignition (before cranking)? You can hear it if you stand next to the car.

Also, do you see 12V on the plus side of the injectors when you turn on ignition?

I suggest you check for a loose connection to the relays through which the computer is powered. In the diagram I posted they are shown halfway on the left (they are spanning the page in the original). If it's not that, then look for loose connections elsewhere in the system. It could also be a broken cable which disconnects itself from time to time.

Only good thing now is that your periodic failure has turned permanent, which means that it can be found and fixed.

Good luck!
