1999 Espace 3.0 V6 24V

Hi all,

I am again in trouble with my '99 3.0 V6 24V and for a silly thing.

As it was impossible to locate the proper tires (205/65 R15 100H),  they fit the closest ones, 205/65 R15 100T. The difference of course is that the speed code is a bit lower: 190km/h instead of 210km/h. Last year, it passed MOT but they commented about that. I told that they were not available. Today I have tried to pass the MOT again and it has failed. I even had a document from the mechanic regarding the non availability of the proper tires, but they have said that it is not a valid document. I need a certificate from Renault!

Any hint regarding this problem will be welcomed. I guess some other people on this forum should have gone through a similar problem.

Please, help me!

Thanks!

Sounds like an over zelous examiner to me. You can appeal against it. Because yours is the v6 it needs the higher rated tyre. In the owners manual it states 225/55 R16 95V have a look on your door for a sticker. (although it does not have the rating on it) I have several cars here v6 & diesel & they have all got either w or v rated tyres.
My mot guy has never looked at the tyre rating to my knowledge.

Please, could someone with a JE0G 3.0 V6 24V and 15" rims check the technical sheet?. On mine it states 205/65 R15 100R and later was ammended to 205/65 R15 100H. But it could be an error from the origin, as on the homologation documents (I have them) that tire is not shown.

Instead they list, for the JE0G model and 15" rims, these ones:

215/65 R15 96H
215/65 R15 100H
215/65 R15 100V

Thanks and best regards,

Hi again, so yours is the early car. My jeog v6 is 1999 & I have a 2000. It came with non standard 16" wheels which I soon changed to low profile 17" It really makes a difference to the ride of the car. We had a flat tyre on the front & tried to fit the spare but found that it would not fit. This was because I had also fitted the disks & caliper hanger from the later car & they were a little bigger. This does not help you i'm afraid. We are in the UK & models can be country specific. Here is the printout from my user handbook & as you can see we never had the 15" wheel on this year car.
