Well- I did find some rot in the rear body of my murena, enough to make me think of parting with it given my limited time. However, although I have it for sale at present - I am still thinking about repairing the damage. My concern though is that I not clear how to remove the rear wings (on both sides) to access the sills and rear inner wings for repairs. I've looked on the forum but cannot find any helpful advice. Anyone help? Where do I find the rivets that hold the wings in place? where and how much are they glued?
With those parts removed I am confident I can weld in new steel and take a decision about the mountings for the rear trailing arms. They are crusty but solid as far as I can see.
Thanks

By "rear wings" I assume you mean the rear fenders. If so, here is a post that describes how and the difficulties. Shocked

If you are lucky the kit is old and dry and then it almost comes of by itself.
That was the case on the left side with this breaker.

The right side however was done after collision somewhere in its life.
I had the feeling it was done with some concrete glue.
Wathever I tried, it wouldn't come of.
I lost patience afte 6 hours labour and saw a part out that might come in handy for part repair.

It's not a easy job.

Out of interest, given this could be a bad job, has anyone tried cutting the wing at the swage line to access the rear beam and sill bottoms then rebonding the wing section when repairs are complete?

The link provided is helpful except the pictures are no longer there.  The following words in the description raise some questions...

'First you have to remove the rear windows otherwise you have to cut the artificial leather inside. '

Is it indeed possible to remove the panel without removing the windows?  It sounds easier to re-trim the inside than to remove the windows.
Presumably the windows are bonded in the same way as the windscreen - are they difficult to remove?

The windows need to come out first otherwise they break.
It can be a nasty job if kit still hold strong.
Right side window took me almost half a day to get it out.
To re-upholster behind the window you need plastic fingers.
Best is to glue the side panel first.
Then upholster en after that glue the window in.
It is a shitty job to do it afterwards but it is in anyway.
    Not realy my thing.

I like the new upholstery, but I hope you replaced the rest of the golden stuff on the sides.  Wink
I have a dark brown upholstery on mine and it badly needs replacement. Where did you get yours and what kind is it?
I would prefer a Wool or Cotton fabric as it is my experience that any synthetic will be ruined by the sun's ultraviolet rays.

Btw. What engine is hiding under that air filter? It is not standard 2.2.  Huh

    @ Jon

The engine is a original J2 engine for a 1.6
Clip of the engine from my breaker.

The upholstery needs to be a bendable material.
I searched several places for brown.
Nowhere to find the same thin stuff.
Only the cheapest stuff from a budget shop in tapestry was suited.
It is about the same quality as Matra used.  Grin
The other brown parts I painted with shoepaint.
Its not original but the stuff that was in had all colors because of sunburnin like in the clip.
    It looks more presentable now.
It's my daily driver so it will fade again.
The look is not to bad.

Hmm. Cat fur is bendable and Boris looks to have a suitable color Grin
