Took my old Espace to the local mechanic this morning, and he says (rightly, I think) that it needs a new brake servo unit. Five phone calls later, he's discovered that no Renault dealer in the UK admits to having one, and his usual parts suppliers can't locate one either.

Any suggestions as to where we buy a new brake servo for a 1994 Espace II (J63)? Specialist brake parts suppliers who might have one? Rebuild service?

I can't tell you yet exactly which make or part number is needed: that will have to wait until the old servo is taken off on Monday.

(The other parts which need replacement are backing plates for the front discs, which have rusted away. Renault say these are obsolete, so Richard thinks the best replacement is to cut out a circle of sheet metal, drill to match the original for the fixing bolts, and weld a stiffener round the outer edge. Any better ideas for replacement are welcome.)

Search for obsolete parts, like the above there are companies that buy parts departments of closing down garages or old stock. Good luck.
