The left hand spring seat failed on the Espace just before Christmas.  They have a reputation for rusting through, fortunately (sometimes I'm lucky!) it happened on the way home from the last part of my Christmas shopping and nothing else was damaged. It sounded like something had fallen off the bumper or inside the wheel well, so I just drove the car home the remaining 1,5 km. The front edge of the seat sat on the inner edge of the tyre and only a short section of the rear holds it together. The tyre is good (luck again!) Cheesy

I just received a good used pair from Germany. They're now sitting in the garage soaking in rust protection. My usual, good mechanic is closed until after new year, so I've secured the car and put the spare wheel on before the it's towed away (on a flatbed, of course!). I don't want the good new winter tyre I put on recently destroyed if the seat decides to give up completely.

Here's a photo of the failed spring seat.

I strongly suggest you inspect yours!  Grin
