After spending a lot of time in the engine bay, I would love to show the results:

Good job. Very well finished with excellent detailing. Love the  aluminium rocker cover  too.  Smiley

I bet you have a lot of skin missing from your fingers though?  Wink

Cheers,

It was quite a job.. more skin on the engine than on my arms actually..

I did the following things to it:

- Group 2 JRD Cylinder head (rocker cover belongs to the head)
- Ducellier K142 distributor
- Slightly modified K142/Group 2 camshaft.
- Devil exhaust on original exhaust manifold.
- Dell'Orto DHLA 40 carburetors.
- Gutmann 170 induction kit (original Talbot Germany option)
- Peugeot 505 Turbo HT Leads (better heat protection)

Gives a really sweet punchy engine!

Q: Have you had it set up on a "Rolling Road" by anyone with some BHP / Torque graph printouts yet?

If so, would love to see them please!

Is it just me or did Jepson's pictures not show up?

Brilliant idea Smiley
I've made the topic sticky.

Now that the respray has been done I'm happy to show the restoration end result!

Looks fantastic. I had the opportunity to buy your car and kicked myself a few times afterwards. You have done a great job!

No I don't see any attached picture either, and there is no image reference in the posting, so it doesn't appear one has been added.  It's the same with lewisman's posting today - there is no image and no image reference either.  This is mine and you should see an image reference just below the photo. (Mine says Murena.jpg and a size)  However, you do have to be logged in to see photos normally.  I'm not sure how some photos in some postings appear even when I'm not logged in, but it must be a different way they have been attached.

Unfortunately that photo was taken some years ago, so the car is not quite so good looking today, but it was just the first photo I had easily available to put in the posting. Smiley

The reason I changed the Murena badge on the front to that modern Matra sticker was to make the front easier to clean!  You see, the early Murena had a thick crinkly 'Murena' word badge, and the front used to get splattered with small flying insects when driving at high speed - which is my usual driving mode!  That meant it was more difficult to clean the area around the 'Murena' badge.  Later badges are simply flat black tape and are much less trouble to clean.  (However I kept my original thick 'Murena' badge and moved it to the back)

New Years Day , 160 odd miles out and then 5 minutes from home the bottom ball joint had wound its self out. Partially sorted and ball joints staked.

Oh my, that's a sad picture Gib :/ I guess it's what this thread warns for? www.matrasport.dk/forum/index.php/topic,2838.0.html

Interesting to see that a sports seat fits next to the other two seats @GP. So far all the Murenas I seen with sport seats where converted to two seaters so I kind of assumed it'd be hard to find a seat that fits in the place of the original. Love the action shots.

@GP Yes it was a long day left Oxford at 06:30 to get to Brooklands Via my brothers house. The BJ fell of 10 minutes away from home at 13:15, the truck picked us up at 17:00 and dropped us of at home at 17:30.  AND this was the AA, i was lucky i wasn't any closer as i think cover is void less than 1 mile from home ? ? ?

Its under control and the mechanical  side is sorted just the wing to take of completely to check and reaffix then the bumper to be sorted Both once the weather is better.

Yours does look good by the way.

@ Grapes That link is for damaged ball joints mine was nearly new but unwound itself due to me not staking it well enough . Quite a few people commented on FB that they have experienced exactly the same issue.
