Author Topic: jeo power steering  (Read 8790 times)

the steering on my espace has become really stiff it seems to jerk both ways.the pump is pumping fluid as it should,and i am not loosing any fluid.does anyone have any ideas thanks shawn.

That would be the servo valve at the base of the steering axle.

after more investigation,it seems as though the front shocks seem to be the faulty part,do they have bearings in them,they seem stiff to turn and jerk.are they easy to get out.were is the top mount and how do i get to it,can anyone help thanks shawn

Hmm! Well they are easier to do than the servo valve.

To get at the tops of the shocks, you need to remove the sound insulation from either side (one is behind the wiper motor, on an RHD car you may need to remove the whole assembly to get proper access), and remove the covers fitted behind there.

thanks again anders,i took them both out today and checked them and am not convinced it is the shocks they seem ok.were would i find the servo valve is there any way to check if that is the problem.i tried to take the heat shield off the rack today to have a closer look,but gave up i dont have the right shape spanner will fabricate one tommorow and have a look.do you have any more thoughts on what the problem maybe.thanks again shawn

Not really, I'm afraid. I haven't done the servo valve on a JE Espace myself, but I think you may find some help in one of the documents here:
