Replacing rear damperas/springs

Right.!
Since the winter finally seems to be over, im gonna have a go at installing the gaz suspention parts... at a glance it seem that the upper mounts of the damper are situated somewhere UNDER the carpet o the rear deck!!. can it really be that one needs to remove the carpet to get replace the dampers?

Great, let us know your experiences!
My car's carpeting doesn't look like the one in the drawings, so if you can post a photo or of the procedure, it would be helpful! :)

It would appear that my car has had a new carpet glued on top of the access plates... without anybody bothering to cut holes in it.. rather odd id say... makes me wonder just HOW old the dampers in my car are.... my guess is that they must be atleast as old as the rebuild after the enginefire...where i take it the new carpet was fitted...
That would make them more then 10 years old

Dampers dont *have* to be bad just because they are old, I guess it all depends... if the rubber seal in the piston still seals, and the cylinder is still intact, and it doesn't leak any of the fluid inside, then I guess it can last many years.... but of course, if it starts leaking, then I guess it's ruined...

I guess you just have to carefully lift the carpet off then, and reattach it using contact glue when you are done...
