Water temp. sensor. I expect this can only be checked via one of those computer thingies? I think that is going to have to wait for now. However, as you suggest, it does seem to follow a logical course. I have recently had all the inlet manifold gaskets replaced so that is most likely ruled out. No, it can be checked without computer. Measure the resistance over it. It must be something like 200 Ohms at 20 degrees. Higher resistance when warmer. The Haynes manual has the details about where to measure on the computer.
BTW: Is it a J63 or J117?
