I am having difficulty in obtaining the correct valve timing on my 'S' I have been told Inlet begins to open 27 degrees before TDC but I am always half a tooth out. I have had uneven running with bangs from the exhaust and must get it sorted. Is the timing done with zero valve clearance, which is the correct way or do you set the tappets at 0.2mm?

Hi Carrera

I'll have to check the workshop manual... but I think there would be an alignment mark in the cam shaft?

As far as I know, banging in the exhaust would normally be because carburation is wrong... too rich specifically, do you know if the carbs are okay?

Hello,
Anders is right. On the flywheel there is mark which have to be at zero position and also on the upper timing wheel there is a mark which have to be on the top. Also when You have bad pre-ignition it could make banging...
