Ok, this is a post which will show my inexperiance when it comes to cars, but I guess everyone has to start somewhere !!

I have now stripped both of my Ranchos and discovered the following...

The Red one has severe rusting to the rear floor and chassis, sills and inner wings. The rear floor is really bad and the chassis is also. However the bulkheasd is solid.

The grey one is really solid at the rear and the floor. The sills have rusted out and so has the inner wings and the Bulkhead.

So my question is simply which one should be fixed - the one with the rusty Bulkhead that needs welding or the red one which does not have a rear floor left in it and rusted out rear chassis - or should I, as much as I really dont want to, just give up with the pair ?

I really dont know which one will be the easiest to repair so any advice will be greatfully received.

I ask here because the experienced car restorer friend I have is not really being much help at the moment due to the fact he himself does not like Ranchos, he just keeps saying "scrap it its a rubbish car" as he does not seem to care that it is MY favourite car. ( He is only into classic Fords and in his mind no other car is worth restoring )

Many thanks

Mark

Well Mark don't know what to suggest some pictures might help, is your mate the Sierra friend?
As you know I am also into classic Fords but still Love my Rancho, if you want to look at rust fords have a look at my thread HERE.

If you wanted I could come up and help you decide and I get to have a look at all your C5's at the same time, unless there is someone closer who could come and have a look.

If you can get some more pics email them to me again and I'll stick them up.

No problems Mark, I'm quite looking forward to it I'm think I'm going to be amazed at all these C5's. I have been checking my Rancho today in a panic after our conversation last night but all appears well just wait until I take the back off.

Many thanks for you kind comments on my previous restoration it is much appreciated and means a lot.

Yeah, me too mate, Martin is coming up on Sunday and his knowledge will steer me in the right direction so I am sure one of them, at least, will be restored.

Fingers crossed !!
