Have'nt been here for a while, but i can post a little of what iv'e been doing.
I have bought me an xu10j4 that i think i'm going to use (turbo) around 350-400hp.
And my car isn't realy a car any longer. But soon it turns, to build it up again.

This is when i drove it, much to check after 15 years in warm-garage. Then my black (raceobject) rear.

Starting to disassemble:

The interior...

Plastic:

Hmm, space?

Starting to get away with rust and glue, paint...

Not as much rust that i thougt, as i read about... Only, floor (picture) and door-mount, around the brakepedal.

The chassis will be coilovers around, the torrision system will be removed totally!
New brakes, proberly porsche. And so on.
I will also modify the back, (u8), and a littlebit on the sides. But mostly original.

The finnishing time is planned to this time next year. My budget is smaaaall.. thats why.  Roll Eyes

Hope that we have more fun projects out there.

I'm still a little unsure about the drivetrain/engine. I'm thinking about going green (E95-fuel).
Eventually i'm going for the Alfa V6 but... it's a disscussion with a consultant about that just now.

So, the choice is between gasoline turbo xu10j4 and the alfa V6 + etanol (e95)

He-he. Yes, i think the car is walk-throughn around the end of the 80's but indeed, you can see an repair of the girder of the driversside (white on picture). it's in MUCH more better shape than my black one. That is an scrapheap, but i'm thinking about to fix that one for the race-track.

Great photos, interesting project!

That is an scrapheap, but i'm thinking about to fix that one for the race-track.

I'd personally love to see more old Matras on the tracks  Smiley

There's nothing green about ethanol!

Go Alfa v6. The xu10j4 will be tricky to turbocharge, unless you can find a 405t16 engine, but they are very expensive.

Same for me : nothing green about ethanol.
But ... forget the V6 : you cannot fit it in a Bagheera engine bay.
This because of the big transversal pipe which serves as
1) support for the suspension,
2) Holder of the tension bar tensioner
3) depression reserve
4) strengh of the chassis

So not recommended to remove it.
And I presume that this was why you want to get rid of the torsion bars. The other issue is that the Bagheera chassis is not made to stand the coil overs. I've never been convinced by the few people who got rid of the torsion bars.µ

For the engine, why not a XU10J2TE/Z or CTE ?

Macaroni:
i'm proberly going for the v6 again. !

And no, it's not so tricky, we have xu10-peugeot205 turbo with 3-400hp here in sweden. But with ethanol it is.

Spyros:
ok, i´ve heard of that but i will strength:n up the chassis where it needs to be strengthen.
Both a friend at "öhlins" a famous chassis-company have said that it souldn't be any bigger problem.
And, do i want a v6 in the bagh. I'll make it fit. No problems.

Like a friend said for a couple of years ago, "cool to have a ES4J (v6) in a 205 Gti." "yeah right.. i thought" But, look at youtube...

Even if its a problem, it's not imposseble at all!

You can fit an v12 in the bagh too, that have been done too. I mean, i have'nt any problems with take my tiger-saw and make some space.

Well hope i'll see you some time to show you the real thing next year when this is on the road.  Wink

Ok, you can cut the chassis .
But ... you will also have to do something about the fuel tank.
First, it will be in the way
Second, the plastic will not like the heat of the second exhaust manifold.

So, the only way to still get enough fuel will be to make 2 tanks in the 2 sides of the car. Aluminium but you will need a god pannel beater to get the shape correct.

I still prefer the 4 cylinders , even if the intercooler will be difficult to locate and even if changing the oil filter will not be so easy anymore.

Yes. The tank will be fitted in the front, with cells.
hm.. every thing has it's solution, heat shields m.m.

I'll uppdate this thread when i'd got some longer in my project  Grin

First of all... very very Impressive project!  Smiley

For a small light car as the Bag, Id forget all about a heavy v6, and find a light weight high rev screamer instead....... like a honda or something.
BUT!
IMHO the pug 1.9 16v seems to be the perfect choice, since it's supposed to be the easiest engine to swap... and it CAN be made to go really fast!

Have a look at this:

I have been working with many peugeots and 205mi16 cars. But i like the v6  character better.

I'm going v6. it isn't much more heavier than the xu10. And i have easy horses to fetch. And the sound of the v6 does the rest. =)

And the 205t16 is TO expensive

I had luck last week and found a race-prep. engine for my projekt. So i have sold my alfa romeo 24v v6 and my xu10j4...

The new engine have 280hk, with papers. Turbocharged, 1.3L suzuki.
Alot done with that engine. The best is the light weight, around 65-70kg.  Grin
