Bagheera X 1980 + 7 Citroën

« on: April 24, 2008, 12:38:21 pm »

I am restoring the engine for my Bagh X 1980, from this:

to this:

I have not yet  restored the original fuel pump, and I don´t know if I should.
Would it be better to install an electric fuel pump, and if so, where?
How do I plug the original pump?
I would appreciate any ideas!
Thanks!

Lasse

The Baggy fuel pumps are generally reliable so I would use the original.

Yes, but ...µ
µ
There are 2 designs of fuel pump.µ
First don't forget that you need a pump with 3 pipes , this to save the fuelµ
µ
First design is good but there will be a little (additional) oil leak at the pump axle.µ
So whenever I can, I choose the second design (not dismantable). This one has a black plastic body and is perfect, no oil leak, works good for years ...
µ
The ref numbers ? Well I provided them last week to Aiemac (bagheera café) who is having an issue. I have them at work , so ...

Well. µ
I just went to have a look at my 2 project engines (twice 1.7 16V) and µ
 1) the old design is a sofabex 3114 (all aluminium, dismontable°) There must be yet another all aluminium reference
2) The black plastic body one is also a Sofabex, no ref number on it. But their web site is listing the ref number 8114 (and a different one for the Murena,  Huh)

Thank you all! I think I will stick to a mechanical pump Smiley

The pump I have is a Sofabex with three pipes and the ref number 909S.
