My friend Jan and I are wondering if a head from a 2.2 Murena is a straight replacement on a Tagora 2.2 engine block. Has anyone out there tried that or know for a fact it will work?

It's missing 2 out of three bosses for the engine mount.
Otherwise it's the same.
(as far as I know)

Yep, you need to take everyting of and make 2 mountingpoints. (specialist job).
But also valvetiming is different so you need to change the camshaft as well.

Making a bracket that fits to the exhaust and the valve cover might also work.
And I don't think there is much difference in the camshaft seeing that the Tagora produced nearly the same amount of horsepower.

a bracket can't handle the power.
I saw some of this half solutions oil soaking everywhere from valve and distribution covers.
Only welding will do.
Power may be about the same, but camshaft, carb, and ignition is different.
The whole setup is a different drivingexperience then a Tagora.

Actually Jon’s question was if it is possible to use a Murena Cylinder head on a Tagora engine.
(but why would anyone want to do that???)

Why? -

Because Jan's Murena has a Tagora engine and serious problems holding it in place because the Tagora head is missing the mounting points for the upper motor mount, as described in the posts above.

Jan has a "real" 2.2 head that needs some valve work. But before spending money repairing it he wants to know if it can be used on the Tagora engine, since he does not have a complete replacement engine.

Since the opposite is possible (tagora head on Murena engine block) one would think it can be done. But we would like to know for a fact, before starting the work and spending money on valve guides and valves.

Interesting project: Will Jan then end up with a ”Ta-rena” or a Mu-gora” engine?

;D Good question. As long as it stays in place and doesn't leak oil he may call it a "Marona"  :o

Are there really none of you who can say for sure if a Murena head is a straight fit on a Tagora block?   ???
The opposite is true, so timing chain, oil and water ports, all should fit. But are there any "gotcha's" ? ???

And the bell housing could be a problem, but possible to fit with modifications.
