Hi guys,
Odd electrical question, I have an alarm fitted to my car and the range of the key fob when first bought was fine, in recent years has been poor, as Is the life of the battery but it seems to be the alarm that's running it down.. Battery is new and very strong.. Anyway was playing around and found that if I remove the fuses from the board the alarms key fobs range increases from 2 mts to 25 mts, any ideas?

Ok I've had a little more time to play and it's the 16A fuse second from left (looking from front of car) that by removing, increases the range of the Alarm fob, put it back in and alarm fobs range is back to 1 mtr. This second fuse seems to affect radio, indicators (involved with alarm) and interior light. The other thing is if you activate the alarm without the second fuse in after a few minutes the Alarm goes off...
Any ideas, please help!

Well I'm still playing, it's nice and sunny and I can narrow it down to an issue between the alarm and stereo as if I put the fuse back in the board, unplug the stereo I get an alarm that worms correctly.. Since the stereo is fed on two leads only I think it has to be caused by interference between the two.. My stereo uses a permenent live from the cigarette lighter (red wire) and an earth (black)

Ok, it looks like if you take off the earth there's no change, stereo still works and alarm fob range poor, so it has to be a live issue...(as its the only wire left). The one red live feed from the cigerette lighter feeds both the stereos ignition live and perminent live feed. Remove one of these and the stereo doesn't work? However if you remove one, it cures the alarm... So I pretty much know my problem, I just don't understand how to fix it... Any ideas?

Maybe but in this case if you can make an alteration by disconnecting the stereo it's unlikely to be a fuse issue, I called the guys at the place I had the alarm fitted, they say replace the batteries in the fob, again, I disagree... It has to be an interference issue of some sort... Guess I'm going to have to try to find a wiring installation diagram and check each wire....

As you said, odd problem, so expect a odd solution. Did you measure the tension at the unit? The stereo can function good on 10 volt where the alarm wil cut in range. Most fall in tension are on the fuse-panel or contact-lock. It is impossible to give a clear ready solution, because of little information how it is build up and not part of the standard on the Murena. Greetz Oetker

Ok I've been in touch with the guy at scorpion alarms and it's simply down to not having a feed from the ignition so as soon as I feel up to it I'm going to sort that.. I've also found the feed on the alarm to attach a boot solenoid so I can simply open the boot with the key fob..
