Converting the instrument cluster lamps on the Murena to LED's is not difficult: There's a few thing to be careful with: LED's chosen should be orange (never white), and the polarity has to be checked to ensure the LED's installed actually light up. Most are simple wedge LED's that are easy to obtain.

However, getting the intensity correct will be an issue as the LED's available today are generally much brighter, despite the fact that they are drawing less power and not heating up. Also, the intensity rheostat will not work as its resistance is too low to make a difference (about 12 Ohms when fully engaged).

I have therefore worked on another solution with a small PWM controller that reduces the intensity. This is a small PCB that fits on the back of the rheostat, measures the rheostat value, and pulses the LED's so that they appear to be dimmer to the eye. Here's a picture of the installed PCB.

If anyone is interested, I have a few spare PCBs and the components to fit. You'll have to do the soldering yourself. I also have some spare wedge LED's.

I'm making a complete conversion to LED on all the dash lamps on my car. I'll post on that later.

I put white dimmable leds in mine. They do work with the dimmer but maybe because I only did the ones in the dial cluster? Maybe there's even a mix of leds and the original ones. The white does look different and less authentic but for me it's already a plus that it works.

All LED's are dimmable, but since the current consumption is much lower than an incandecent bulb, the rheostat will normally not really dim the LED's. Do you have a link to the LED's you found?

Sorry it took me ages to reply 😅
I wish we had a Matra discord server, that would be much quicker and easier to use for me.
Aaanyway the LEDs I have are the 8.5D from this listing but I had to carve the plastic a bit to make them fit:

Yes, I had th8s leds to but because of bad fit not used..Because of age and health problems I stop the hobby car projects, but one of my idees for leds in the dash was to put a stabelise LM 7805 in feeding line of the leds. if you place a potmetr between the ground conection of the LM P2 to ground you can make it dim. It will never happen. The 1.6 is for sale and the w.2 is sold.

Oh that sounds like a good idea! Sorry to hear you're stopping the hobby cars. I see one wrapped 1.6 for sale currently. Is that yours?
