Hi guys, anyone removed the ignition barrel before? I've tried and despite taking the screw out and pressing in the pin it wouldn't come out? Have missed something?

Ignition barrel = ignition and steering wheel lock.
I had to change the steering lock in my Rancho last November and I will assume that it is the same Simca/ Talbot steering column in the Rancho and the Murena.
I took out the screw out and pressing in the pin and I got the clock cylinder out with out any problems. However as I assumed that it would be too cumbersome to lay on the floor in the Rancho in order to remove the lock, I first removed the whole steering column from the car, so I could do the work on the workshop table.

Ah, right, sorry not knowing specific names for some things ;)
The Neiman lock in the Simca 1100 is the same.

I made some pictures to let see how things hang together.

One more thing: I think that the key needs to be turned to a specific position. This might be difficult if something had broken inside the lock :-(

I did it last week.

Removing the screw.
After that presws the pin while turning te key to a specific position. because of the pressure the pin will fall into the lock, and it can be removed.

This only works with the combination of pressing the pin an turning the key. you can't press the pin after turning the lock, because there wasn't any force applied when it got turned in to that position.
