Pirelli P7 Cinturato
March 10, 2011, 06:06:52 PM Last Edit: March 10, 2011, 06:12:17 PM by Anders Dinsen
New tyres for the Espace arrived today. There's a handful of premium options in the standard size 225/55 R16, but I decided that even if I could save some money on the old P7 (which has been my choice of summer tyre the past 6 years now), and a Kumho (which have had reasonably good test results too) would have saved me a good deal more, tyres aren't the right thing to save on - so here they are P7 Cinturato "world's best tyre".

Something is missing, you say!? Indeed. But it's still too early to switch to summer tyres. They'll go on rims and the car early April - in time for our yearly holiday in Provence.

If you want to compare pattern with the old P7, here's a photo of them:

Are they quiet running?

I may buy new this year and I'd like something silent.
Perhaps Michelin primacy HP, Nokian H, or similar. The bridgestone Turana ER300's I have now are great in all respects except that on course road surfaces they generate a bit more noise than necessary. The previous set were michelin pilot from 2002 which were on the car from the factory, they were reasonably quiet.

Not particuarly, but not bad either. Here's a link to last years' ADAC test result:

First impression after the tyres got on the car Monday: Great tyre, great grip, feeling of control. Not stiff (good!), and not as quiet as I expected, but this may change when they get a good run-in on the autobahn next week :D
