JE0N 2.0T?
July 13, 2007, 08:01:59 AM
Hi All,

A couple of questions just out of interest:

Does anyone know, if the complete drivetrain (engine with turbo and 6 speed gearbox) from a new all steel Espace 2.0T monster will fit straight into a JEON?

BTW: Is there an intercooler involved with the 2.0T setup?

AND: Is the 5 speed gearbox used in JE0N and the new six speed box interchangable (using same engine)?

- AND: Does someone know the more exact technical difference between the 172 Hp 2.0 engine used fx in Clio Sport and the 140 Hp F4R used in the Espace?

You can probably get the 2.0T engine to fit on the JE, and I'd think the engine mount points are the same. You might need some heat shielding as I think the turbo is behind the engine. But since the 2.0T engine is fitted on some models of Avantime, I think it would be quite possible to do the conversion and copy the setup from there (if you can find an Avantime Turbo that is)

Yes, I'd assume there would be an intercooler involved.

I have no idea of the differences between the Clio Sport engine and the F4R. Probably cam timing, ignition timing, and fuel management. Perhaps also exhaust manifold and inlet manifold, i.e. air management. Pistons may also be different. You will probably need to address this question to a Renault forum.

Hi Anders,

Thanks for the input. - that's about what I figured...

Probably not easy to find an Avantime 2.0T to look at, here in Denmark though :-\

Agree, there probably aren't any! And since only the V6 was marketed in UK, there aren't going to be any UK owners on this forum either.

Try contacting the http://www.avantime-club.de/, they might be able to help.

The german "Holger" forum is very likely a good pointer, - but there *are* in fact 2.0T Avantimes in UK - I have seen several for sale, - currently there is however only one: http://tinyurl.com/2sxf49

Not true Anders.  There were quite a few 2.0 litre turbos sold here.  One of our club members used to have one too.  Only the diesel was not sold here.

Yes, I got it wrong. And I should have remembered, as I once bought an English Avantime brochure documenting both petrol models (when you can't afford the original, a brochure is better than nothing ??? ).

Well, I'd like to know if the 3.0l Diesel would fit... :) That'd be some nice JE :) Just out of curiosity that is...
