1995 espace automatic problem

I just got a automatic espace, drove it 10 miles, then lost the high gears and reverse as well. after 3 hours started the espace up again, and all is well, all gears are o.k. It appears that after warming up, the gears do not change. I have added fluid to the gearbox, but it is still the same.
Wud be grateful for any advice or ideas of where the problem may lie.   Can't be the gearbox ? or can it be : :-(
