any one know why the automatic box is so bad in the phase 2?
forward drive always seems to dissapear

I don't know why the auto boxes on phase 2 are troublesome, but it seems most owners will need to have them rebuilt before they have done 150000 km. They come from Audi 80, AFAIK, and they give Audi owners "grey hairs" too.

What is your problem?

well first i paid £800 for an m reg just befor christmas, and 2 days later the automatic box went, it was 3 months befor i found a replacment box,
i couldnt aford the £1000 to fix mine, after a few problems geting it in,
i found that it was also gone with the same problem.since  then,
i have noticed 75% of the automatics (phase 2)  i see on ebay have got the same problem, no forward. just wounderd if anyone knew what the problem was?. and my advice to any one thinking of geting an automatic is
FOR HEAVENS SAKE DONT!!!!!
