Air filter house

Hello:
I'm José from Portugal and have a 1991 Espace 2.2 petrol.
I have a problem with the air filter house.In two years time i had to repalce it twice, and yesterday it broked again.It happened twice in the highway(120,130 kmh), but yesterday broked in third gear, so i guess it has nothing to do with circulation speed.
Does anyone out there have a clue about what is happening why this plastic box ?

Your english is perfect! And surely better than my Portuguese

I have never heard of that problem and I know a few people with this engine (including myself), but it must be very annoying!
Is it cracking in the same place every time?
Is it properly suspended in the bracket in the front?
Is the filter ok (and allowing good airflow)?

I'm just guessing.

Thank you for your replie Anders, and yes it allwyas crakes in the same place, in the midle where is located the screw.We thought that it could happen because the screw was very tight, so in the last one that we replaced we left it a little loose, but it cracek again.
The air filter was new, the airfilter box also, and i think it as only one position to be placed in.

I have a friend whose J11 broke exhausts all the time, until he went on a holiday in some eastern European country, where they still have good oldfashioned craftmanship (and not just replace parts that the computer tell them to replace).

The exhaust broke again, - but the local garage figured out what was wrong.

It turned out that one of his engine mountings had become too soft, which caused the engine to move about more than the exhaust system could handle. The mounting wasn't broken, - but simply become softer by age/wear.

Maybe your problem is similar ?

Thank you Lennart for you tip.I think it can be very important.
Today I will leave my Espace in a friend's garage.He works with racing cars, so maybe he can find if that can be also the source of this strange problem.If not, maybe he will change the airfilter box into a position that prevent future "accidents" !
Anyway he has only 4 days to fix it, because next Saturday I'll have a very long hollyday travel to Spain.
