Upon prying open the butterflyvalve, this came out....

How on earth this have managed to make its way all the way here, is beyond me....

And by the way Anders, this little "hole" on the top here, is this for removing the jet...? doesn't seem to be a hex either....

I haven't noticed your updates until now, that's why I haven't commented - sorry! It's a pity that this blog section is a bit hidden.

Where exactly did you find those rusty bits? Throttle shaft looks good, no wear.

The little hole in the top is an air bleed. This carb has a high speed enrichment device in the secondary venturi: When the air speed through the carb is high enough, the jet can suck out petrol from the float chamber and cause an additional enrichment which is necessary under prolonged full load. The air bleed is there to mix the fuel with a little air to make an emusification. Same principle as with the main jets and emulsion tubes.

Rusty bits my ass..... How they got in there is anybodys guess, but it is actually catfood.... 

Air bleed you say....? just looked like they are brass and could do with some cleaning, but removing them seems like it would be kind of hard...

On the down side, me and the wifey have decided to sell the house and move closer to the city, so for now all parts have been placed in storage and the house cleaned.

Catfood!?? Well the car was stored for several years with the carb and manifold off the engine and sitting in the trunk, so it's not unlikely that a couple of mice has used it as a food storage

Yes, air bleed. I don't think you can remove it as it's press fit into the carb body. Its function is to bleed air into the fuel coming out of the high speed jet E in this drawing:

Pity I didn't take any pictures of the lower butterflies, one of them was rusted stuck... Have gone over and gotten it back nor "normal" shape again, doesn't look like is any worn luckily.

Don't quite understand how all the things in the carb work so i'll just have to talk your word for it  , and looks loke a hell of a job trying to locate all channels and holes....
