Silver line around the front bumper serie 1_How is it originally made?

I have seen different ways to make/recreate the silver line around the front bumper on a serie 1 Bagheera, but was it painted on, or a vinyl sticker originally?

I have just checked my store, where I have an (I believe) unrestored front bumper for a Bagheera I. My conclusion is that the silver is painted on.
