Murena and Multipla - I like it 3 abreast!

« on: March 02, 2009, 06:47:53 pm »

Hi,
no details at the moment, but I know of a Gold 1980 Murena 1.6, now fitted with a 205 1.9 gti engine by Matra Magic, that is coming up for sale.

I have seen the car and it is solid, but in need of a little tidying.
It is currently taxed, but MOT has just run out. Not sure how much work will be needed yet.

I also have no pictures or a price, but hope to get both this coming weekend.

In the meantime, if anyone is interested, please call me on 07951 847473.
Car is in the South East, UK.

Cheers,

Antony

OK, I have been to see and taken some pictures of this car.

It is in very good condition and also has a sunroof. There is a discreet "Design Volanis" transfer on one side, for some reason.

The interior is in excellent shape, although it is very brown.

It started first time and the Peugeot 205 1.9 gti engine sounds very strong and idles better than my gti!

I took it for a spin and the engine is a cracker. Very willing to rev and quick. It has been tuned, apparently, but have no evidence of to what extent.

There a couple of problems; the headlights won't raise and the brakes are weak. However, the car has been stood for the best part of a year and I think a good long run will sort the brakes out and the headlights shouldn't be a big problem.
The last time it ran was for the MOT test last year and has only done 14 miles since!

It currently has no MOT, but I intend to get one sorted for it before sale.
It has road tax until end of June 2009.

Very difficult to value, but I think £2000 is a good starting point for a very solid car with a superb engine.

See previous post for contact details.

OK fellow Matriciens, this Murena now has a new MOT, which it passed with only a couple of small jobs.
It is taxed until end of June.

Price is now £2000 which is very fair cnsidering the condition of the car.
I think the 1.9gti engine transplant is very sympathetic and the car does go very well indeed.

This is still for sale, had an offer of £1750, but the buyer pulled out at the last minute claiming his wife would be too cross with him.

If it isn't sold by end of June, it may used for the UK scrappage scheme!!

Surely not a good way of raising £2K

I would be tempted if I wasn't restoring my 2.2 and I know it would mean that I would end up breaking the 2.2 Cry

I know, but it ain't my car!

I don't think the owner knows how much of a con the scrappage scheme is, but if I don't get it sold by end of June, its history.

I'm tempted to sell my 2.2, for which I have been offered a princely sum, and buy this just to save it.
I love my 2.2 though.

Krede, the UK scrappage scheme gives you £2000 towards the price of a new car. The RRP price though, with no other discounts...

If no one else takes it within the next 2-3 weeks, I'm interested in the car.

Not that I really need another Murena in the workshop, but it's a shame to let it go to waste!

Has he tried to sell the car on EBAY?

If it stops the car from being crushed i'd pay towards buying some of the car for parts, its not a nice way of looking at it but alot better being crushed!

If it goes on Ebay, I will be bidding to make sure it doesn't for nothing... It looks pretty good and sound to me.
It's not that big a problem to get it to Denmark if it's had an MOT.

I am resisting ebay, but that time is getting closer.
I was trying on the classic car websites, with lots of interest, but that has waned a bit now.
Thing is, he won't let it go for beans, otherwise he would use it for scrappage.

I could even sell mine, as I've had an offer on it, and buy this, but I don't want it just to save it. Its just too brown for me!

I'm going to have another concerted effort this weekend.

Waldo, - if you end up buying the car, maybe I could help getting it to Denmark ?
(would have to fit into my schedules though, but keep it in mind)
