Le Mans 2006 is in the weekend 17-18 June - this year exceptionally starting at 17:00 and not 16:00 as always... (simply because of some footballmatch.. sigh)

I am (as always) going to work my posterior off in the pressroom during the race (we're still producing all the english content on http://www.lemans.org during the race), but in the week leading up to the race I will be stolling around, taking pictures  and enjoying the event. Would be fun to meet up with some Matraciens/ciennes.

The weekend before the race (i.e. 10-11 June) has the historic 100 year ACO celebration event: http://www.matrasport.dk/vault/100ans_gb.pdf - with cars from the 1920'ies - but ALSO with a display area for classic cars, and we might have a few Matra's in there.

Oh it would be funny to be there, ALAS time does not allow this year. Hwr 11th of June, I'm in Sturup enjoying third chapter of Danish Touringcar Challenge, quite possibly with VIP tickets from one of the teams - that's not to miss! Though there will be no Matra's Sad

Hello

Wait untill 19-20 August and if everything goes well there will be a Matra on Sturup  Smiley

But if you cannot wait for that, try visiting Copenhagen for the annual Copenhagen Classic Grand Prix on the 5-6 August www.chgp.dk

I have entered my Matra Djet 5 to compete against a range of exotica, like Porsche 550 Spyder, AC Cobra and Lotus Elans.

Hope to see you there

Best regards

Great news!

Please keep us posted when you know more about which races you will run!

Is your car ready, I heard that you had some problems with it on the training day?

I'll  see if I can make it to Sturup... I'm throwing a summer party on the 5th so that saturday and the sunday is occupied Sad

Best wishes,

Anders

The top is off right now and carbs being checked as well.
Hopefully everything goes back together by tomorrow which will mean that i will be racing next weekend 24-25 June on Ring Djursland www.ccm.dk

Then it will be Copenhagen 5-6 August , Sturup, Knutstorp and finally ending the season in October at Jyllandsringen.

Full race calender om www.hms.dk

All the above races are planned but as i have learned so far this year is that nothing has gone according to plan, so i have chosen to take it as it comes.

This season is dedicated to run the car in and get all faults detected,  i just did not think there was going to be so many obstacles. I am certain that when everything is going according to plan the car will be competitive against all but the Ginetta G4 that goes extremely fast 450 kg and 100 bhp! that is very hard to beat, but i should be able to give the Midgets, Spitfires and 356'es a run for the money

c u on the track

Great! Fingers are crossed here... unfortunately I'm not able to make it to Djursland!

Any Matra-klub members going to support Erik?

Top on, and back off again Huh

Found the correct headgasket but as the engine has bigger inlet valves compared to an "street" Gordini the valve got stock on the gasket!

Now just learned that a Renault 10 gasket fits and this is now in the mail. So it will be very much touch and go to have it all in place by end of this week

I will not be making it to Ring Djursland this weekend Embarrassed

I am travelling the remainder of the week so even if we had everything in place and the car running by then it would not give me time for a trial run, and i not going to haul the car across the country, pay fees, tolls etc whilst not being 100 % prepared. I have done it before and try not to repeat my mistakes Wink

But if you have a chance i can highly recommend going to Ring Djursland. There will be more than 100 classic cars racing on the best track in Denmark.

I will keep you posted on developments as i get the car going and prepped for the Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix

Best regards

Ah what a pity... you must be disappointed - but I'm sure every one appreciates your decision, it would have been too long a shot Wink
