Yes, I know - exhaust has to be a little noisy, nut........

I just bought a devil exhaust from simon-auto - complete with all, manifold gasket etc.

Instead of a deep grumbling sound, I get a lot of metallic distortion. And I can't quite figure out what it is.

Motor to manifold seems okay, but manifold to connection pipe ( 4 to 1 pipe ) is only assembled with feders.
Could it be this one making trouble or what else ?

Any suggestions ?

Stainless steel exausts does tend to give a more "metallic" sound.... though im not sure thats the problem in your case

Mine has a similar exhaust and no, there is no deep grumbling sound in mine either - especially not over 3000 rpm where it starts being very noisy. At 4500 people start looking obviously worrying what I'm doing to my car. It was measured to 90 dB at 2 meter distance from the rear, 2 meter from the ground, 4500 rpm, unloaded. That's a lot!

I think you can only get deep sound from an exhaust if it is long - obviously the Murena has a very short exhaust which (1) makes it very noisy (2) makes it somewhat high pitched.

A Lotus Elise accelerated out of Lyngbyvej (somewhere in Copenhagen for you blokes overseas) a couple of days ago - from the sound (and acceleration perhaps?) I thought it was a motorcycle, but then I saw it's yellow body. Wow.

I'll look forward to compare sound with your car soon, Henrik! Wink

Okay, I think it is solved now.

I adjusted the lenght of the U-pipe - inlet to end exhaust - by 2 cm. So the bumper don't touch anything.

And most important - the springs connecting the manifold and 4to1 pipe are the sources for the 'can' noise.
I wrapped them together with a piece metal, and all noises dissapperd

Henrik, that's great news!!
