Value of a 2.2 ?
December 04, 2014, 02:10:52 PM
Just curious of the market value you think a 2.2 project might be worth?
It has the S conversion undertaken by Sportscars Unlimited in the UK, aftermarket alloys and is a non runner - having been off the road since 07. Bodywise the external panels are good, interior great, chassis rusty but not rotten?
cheers

Have a look at Hagertys Insurance website, they have a valuation tool on there which is quite accurate.
Also depends on the trailing arms too.

It realy depends where you liv and the condition of the car.
Somewhere between 700-8000 pound.
500 for a breaker and 8000 GBP for pristine.
In fact I bought a 1.6 breaker for 350 Euro this year.

a project 1.6 for 750 Euro. (my daily driver worked on for 2 years).

My 2.2 bought for 4000 Euro in 2007 and also more or lessa project but in very good condition.

Both cars are technical in shape now and will not go for the same price ofcourse.
There is no real answer for youre question.

I'm saving for my next daily driver.

Thanks Herman. I know it is a difficult question, nonetheless buying/selling - a price has to be agreed. I was just curious that the price I paid for my project was in the ball park and it seems to be. I could break it I think for more than I paid, but I would rather put it back on the road as a rough and ready daily driver.

Just like my 1.6 make it ready to run reliable and have fun with it every day.
Some pics of the car would give a idea what you are up to.

1 december I have the car in the shed and sleep here for 3 months.
Not my idea but the governement desided that our cars are no longer old-timer.
The age for that is upscaled from 25 to 40 years.
We have to pay tax again.
All oldies go to the shredder or exported to foreign country's for less money.
So is my old Honda in the shredder.
Nothing wrong with it but on GPL tax is sky-high.
I tried to sell it but there were some people the would give 50 Euro for it >:(
If I can't drive it then nobody get it.
I invested 2300 Euro materials  in it to make it OK
Sold to the breakers for 150 Euro.

demolished , there was no time left to sell it for a acceptable price.

It's a shame, they are almost more rare then a Murena :'(

That is pretty bad Herman - sorry to learn of this and scrapping good cars!

A few pics of my 2.2 project (previous owner sent them - I have not yet taken any more recent ones).

Thanks Ian

At first global look the car seems OK.
The real work in most cases is underneath after 7 years.
Good luck making the car in good drivable condition.
It's a nice hobby.

Yes you are right. I think it had a hard life before layup, and was laid up wet or outside or a period of time.
Still no major concerns yet. Will take more pics this weekend.

Car is now on axle stands and whilst a bit crusty in places, I have found  no serious rot or rust. The rear trailing arms are ok and look to be replacements themselves.

drbaghera what are your intentions for the project. are you selling or testing the water. I previously had a sportscars unlimited conversion. I could not afford to run it here in southern Ireland about eight miles to the gallon.I still hanker for one . Regards TOG.

I am intending to get the car to mot standard and back on the road.
I have stripped the front of the car and in the midst of replacing all balljoints, arb links, steering bellows, suspension etc and rust proofing. The galvanizing  saved the metal but it would not have lasted much longer i think. The rear trailing ams seem to be in good shape.
Cheers

8 mpg!!  How on earth did you get it down to that Terry??  Even with a fuel leak I have never got below 22 mpg out of any of my tuned Murena 2.2 and I drive fast.  I have your car now and I regularly get 30 plus mpg.
