Hi Anders,

If your'e referring to the adjustment of the wheels and the replacement of the upper front suspension joints (dont know what it's called in english) at the repair shop in Roskilde, well my wife has just brought it there today, to be fixed. (I am busy working long hours at the moment, and well.. she also likes driving murena Weeeeheee...  Grin)

The only thing was, the guy being there, asked if she could come back another day, and of course she went "WHAT"?  Shocked

We had a deal, so she basically was quite surprised, that they did not call us during the week, to say, that they had too much on their hands. But solution were, that now my wife is driving around in a borrowed stationcar from them, and they would call her, when they knew if they could manage to fix it today.  Roll Eyes  Smiley

Hej Jesper

Don't expect too much from them... they are excellent mechanics, but not fast and not the best planners in the world Wink

I know... bad match for us busy people, but there's only very few mechanics I trust well enough to allow them to work on my car. Flemming is one of them.

You'll get over it!

I think I have spent about 200 hours over the winter on this baby (for instance, re-building the electrical system myself, taking the car apart for a thorough paint-job etc.), so I guess it's okay to have somebody else spending approx. 2 hours on it, while I'm doing crunch-time at work  Tongue

Well, call me a sinner  Grin

I think I will have a hard time selling this, when the v6 gets on its feet.

And before Anders and I have gotten a drive around the neighborhood we wont LET you sell it Smiley

By the way... do you have any idea whats the gas mileage is with the v6?

I think i remember, that when my wife and I, drove it home from Holland, it did about 8-9km pr.liter, but that was mostly on the Autobahn. If you driver it hard or in the city, you get about 6km/Liter i think.
But i'm not shure, its been a long time since it was up and running.

Cool So you think it's time?  Cool

The buddha miniature figure that sat on the v6 dashboard has left the car. Hopefully this will bring some luck to the project.

It's now in our window sill in our apartment, and it looks like it has finally understood, that we are the new owners of the car. So it has gotten a new chance to protect our famliy, but car is out of its responsibility now.  Grin

Well, concerning the v6, there is no v6 in that murena anymore. Shocked

In summer, Novitec took out the old v6, and we found that, it was beyond repair. BIIG HOLE in one of the cylinderwalls, two crushed pistons, and a bend pistonrod.

Pics of the mayhem

Hole in cylinderwall

Look at the pounding  Undecided

Do I need to comment on this?  Lips Sealed

Reason why the engine died is still unknown.
Danish Alpfa Romeo specialist, Novitec then tried to get a new v6 engine, but I decided it would be better to ship the car to Carjoy, and let them build a new engine, and use the spare parts, because they had done some modifications to the engine, that if Novitec should do the same, it would all become too expensive. (labour!) But Novitec was still very kind, and the price of the summer visit was kept down due to the situation. THANK YOU Novitec (good guys).

So I filled up the v6car with engine parts (had to take out one seat). Lazslo from Carjoy came with a broken leg  Shocked (drove a car with automatic gear  Grin), and picked it up (really nice guy). So now my beloved v6murena is finally having a heart transplant.

But it means that until now, the project has been delayed for 1 year  Cry Cry Cry. But luckilly we have the white one, and it drives like SUPERMAN! flies  Cool Cool Cool.
I have just replaced driveshafts (no more banging noises when in going out of gear), replaced one sad trailing arm (a lot of rust), and got new springs (the dampers were fine). The list of repairs is becoming longer, and it feels good to know, that the car is in a very good condition.

Added some pics:

New shafts, springs, trailing arm...

As it is now (I think I have to sell it, if I get the v6 registered  Cry)

Well, my 2.2 runs smoothly, so me and my wife do not complaint about having to wait for the big brother to come home from Holland. Well, okay I miss it of course, but we can live with the situation.

My wife loves the power and noise of the 2.2, and our newborn baby is having the middle seat for himself, and loves it.

I will keep you updated...

Best regards,

Jesper

Auch!! sounds like a pretty spectacular engine failure!!
But nice to hear that the you are having it fixed are not abandoning the car as some people would.

But isn't it terribly expensive to have the car picked up and transported all the way to Holland?..

Have you found anything about the "legal" issues regarding the v6/brakes modification ?
