A useful point for you Ian and all Murena owners:

All Murena models use exactly the same calipers and brake pads at the front.  It's the same situation at the rear too where they use the same calipers and pads although obviously these are different to the front.  The only difference between the 1.6 and 2.2 models are the rear discs which are larger on the 2.2 and S.  Sizes are approximate, and the front and 1.6 rear can vary by a mm or two but the 1.6 rear discs are 239mm diameter the same as used on some other Simca/Talbot models whilst the 2.2 has 260.9mm diameter unique discs.  Because the rear discs are larger, the rear caliper mountings on the 2.2 semi-trailing arms are further back.  The larger discs are required to absorb the extra heat expected from the rear brakes on a 2.2 model.

Roy
P.S. being pedantic the correct spelling for a brake caliper is one 'L' not two, just as Ian used in the title of this posting.  This is historical and all manufacturers have spelt them this way for many years (at least 80 years to my knowledge).  I now find the auto spell here is trying to correct my spelling to two 'L' which annoys me!  Callipers with 2 'L" applies to the leg frames that some people have to use.
