Murena S inlet manifold

I am renovating my S which was purchased partly dismantled. I am puzzled by the final inlet butterfly, which draws warm air from the exhaust area. There is a vacuum device which connects to the manifold, which is fine, but how does the butterfly revert to drawing in cold air? There does not appear to be any other connection electrical or otherwise.

This is not supposed to be used on an S, only on the normal 2.2.

On the normal 2.2, there is a temperature activated vacuum switch sitting in the plastic hose connected on the top of the carburettor. This temperature sensor uses vacuum to control the butterfly.

But on an S, the inlet piece should just be a straight piece of tube.

I know from the parts manual, I've never had a chance to check a real one... ;)
