Twin Dellorto 40s
January 29, 2007, 07:52:55 AM
Hi,
I've been messing about with my carbs and it appears that one of them, the one near the fuel tank, doesn't respond to the idle mixture screw being adjusted. Nothing happens until it is almost screwed right out and then the revs rise dramatically.

I want to get the carbs working correctly before taking it to a rolling road to have them set up.
Can anyone with experience of these carbs suggest what might be wrong?

Cheers,

Antony

Urrgh I wouldn't touch that if I was myself... I've got plenty of challenges in a single carburettor!

Sounds like dirt, but then again I'm not an expert.

I know what I would do... I would call Roy, give him a good and detailed problem description, and then ask him politely for his opinion on the matters. Since he's across the sea for me, I can't show him my car... but hey Antony, you are in the same country!

Cheers,

I'm quite happy taking them apart, if necessary, but not to adjust them.

I don't want to waste expensive rolling road time for him to tell me there is something wrong with them.

In that case I think the best you can do is to take them apart, clean them, renew gaskets and seals, renew the float chamber valve etc, and then put them back on for setup on the rolling road.
