Didn't the BX use a Mono wiper ?.

Yes, the BX has just one long wiper arm. It should be too long for a Murena :-\

Lasse

No it is not.  And the reason the Citroen one is correct is that it is straight the whole length, like the originals. (most wiper arms have a crank to either left or right depending on the side of the car they sweep from)  I fitted two BX arms many years ago complete with 500mm blades and these were a perfect replacement for the originals - not the same exactly but they fit and work correctly.  Just make sure you fit a spoiler blade on the drivers side.  Bosch sell twin wiper kits that have one spoiler and one plain blade which are just right.

It was probably this information about wiper arms that many club members have been given when they join our club, that you have in those papers with your car Christian.

Apologies for the resurrection of an old thread!

I am restoring a 1.6 that has what I think are the original bayonet type wiper arms. New blades only seem to come prepared for the 'universal' hook type arms. Can anyone suggest where I might get adapters? Or, if it best to replace the arms, what modern arms fit best (BX and LHD Ka arms will be difficult in the UK I think)?

If all else fails I suppose I could weld hooks onto the old arms!

Any help would be appreciated.

I have never had any luck with the type of wiper shown in that add. There simply isn't enough tension in the wiper arm to pull it fully flat against the wind shield, resulting in streaks. :(
Usually there are several different adapters included when I buy new wiper blades. I have never not been able to fit them to the original wiper arm.
Roy mentions that the original wiper arm are straight. I put a bend in mine because I found that it obscured the view.  Check out my post about that here: http://www.matrasport.dk/forum/index.php/topic,1423.0.html

Thanks for all the responses and advice everyone.

I have ordered some of the Valeo adapters because I am close being MoT-ready and so I need the quickest solution.

Gib - thanks for your offer of help - I may be in touch if the adapter route fails.

My man Jeffry ( maintenance apprentice but owns an ST220 and a MKII Escort) is going scrapyard hunting for Ka windscreen wipers as soon as he can. I said as long as they are below 10-15 Euro for a pair and in good nick just get them. SO hopefully in the next few weeks I should have a couple of pairs which can be sent around the UK.
Has any one replaced the spindle/ arm, mine is pretty badly corroded so I may look at taking it apart and replacing the spindle for a Ka one. Any one BTDT????

Getting to where you can take the spindle arm out is quite a job. I requires you to remove the brake amplifier/master cylinder, then drilling out the pop rivets of the metal plates on the firewall and removing them. Even then it would be good with a universal joint on your wrists  :D
But if your spindle arm is worn so water can seep down past it, it probably will be worth the effort. The mechanism behind the wall is connected via ball joints like the ones in the gear linkage. If the spindles rust to the point where they are hard to turn, then the joint is known to pop off the motor arm.  >:( (Happened to Philbert)
