Service history

Hi all
          Our  2000  2.2 dti has now been in our ownership for six months, I have finally had a chance to have a poke about under the bonnet. To my suprise ( the car came with a full service history) the pollen filters are dated 1999 and the air filter is dated 2002, I assume that these items are part of the service certanly the air filter should be, it goes to show just how much trust you can put in the big bundle of invoices you get when you buy a second hand car. The car was also fitted with a new gearbox in 2004 ( according to the paperwork!) and a new timing belt, at the time the car had 64,000 miles on the clock the car now has 97,773 on the clock when is the belt due for a change and what are the mileage intervals for oil and filter changes.
 Any advice would be welcome

Hi David,

The timing belt change is 82,000 miles if my memory serves. So you should be fine for a good while yet - just note that it has been changed "too early". Which means it'll have to be changed "too early" for the next time too. (64000 + 82000 = 146000).
The dCi engine has got a normal service interval of 18,000 miles, as opposed to 10,000 miles compared to the 115bhp earlier engine.

This should all be quite clear in the manual tho'... (I hope you got the owners manual..?!)

  Do not seem to have the service book for the car just the drivers handbook.
 The car was imported from France when new in feb 2000 and the owner seems to of had it serviced at a independant garage in his local area (Worcester). I think the dealer we bought it from (in Wigan,Lancs.) got it off Ebay.We have an invoice dated 2004, 67405 miles for £1,841.90 inc. exchange gearbox new cam belt,water pump and a new injection pipe and a service, since this time nothing seems to have been done to the car exept for mot's.
