Is there anybody in here who is good in either french or german...? I'm considering translating the workshop manuel of the Murena, unfortunately my german and french SUCK!

However, i have a translating program, but this is FAR from perfect, so if anybody would like to contribute to the translating, read and correct the translation and so on, I would be very happy.

Regards

I think a lot of us would be prepared to pay for a good English translation.  Anyone know someone who would be willing to do it for us?  I was thinking that it would be a nice little earner for a language student...

10 copies @ 40 Euros = 400 Euros

or ever better

20 copies @ 30 Euros = 600 Euros Wink

Even better, why not make one translation for a decent sum, and scan/photocopy it around...  Grin

Perhaps you can Phil75, i'll see if i can translate som of it, send it to you, let you see what still is in french or out of context so you can try to explain it or translate it if you can, and let me finish it off so that it is understandable in english.

Does that seem like somrthing we can try, or do you know anybody else in France that would like some new experience....?

when you have a problem of translation requires it of me I would see whether it is possible for me to help you.

I will ask on the French forum Matra if somebody has an English technical documentation (or if he know where to find it)

Here is one first test of a page in the manuel.

Any thoughts...?
µ
µ
Some thoughs ...
First, the source of information. This page is coming from a web site put together by someone who has put a lot of effort to scan all these documents and put them online. You will not appreciate what I will say but frankly, I don't care, so don't feel the need to comment . But did  you think about contacting the man behind this web site ? µ
He will much probably approve or even take part to this traduction initiative. Doing it without consent and ... it's like stealing others work ...µ
Why does everybody think that internet is a free shop ??

The other issue is ... the translation.µ
These manuals do use lots of abreviations and only people knowing these cars and both french & english.µ
Just a sentence :  Put the setting lower strut AR G. And push backwards.
Well... a correct translation would be "Disconnect the lower fixation of the rear left damper and push back the damper to the rear"
Not really the same.
To me, performing a direct translation would take less efforts than starting from our automated translation. But only if the translator knows what he is speaking about ...
µ
Was the murena manuals translated in english ?
I don't know. I never came to any original manual in English. However, for Bagheera (my domain) I can tell you that if the manuals were published in French, some machine typed translation existed in German or Dutch (I even have several talbot manuals published in Dutch) . But strangely there were some specific manual for parts of the chassis that were ONLY published in German ... Not in French

Allways good to know what oyher people are meaning Spyros

first item, yes and no, I have tried to contact Pascal who has posted these pages, but to no luck. For now, it is only for myself so that I can try to handle my car since I do not speak french then english would be a better language for me. And, putting something out on the net does make it more accessible to people. especially since there where no copyright notice, no privacy claim and so on. I can only speak for my self, but if people would use something like this that I had translated, I would be hounured.

second, yes I know the translation suck, unfortunatly I know next to nothing in french and I let the program to the job. this is why I was hopeing for some help from somebody that can french.

Since it seems noone has translated it yet, perhaps this could be the start of an easier approch to working on the car since we can understand a bit more of the book.

And I hope that i do not step on anybodys pride or toes in this matter.
If so, please let me know. Especially you Pascal if you ever read this.
