Quick question - where is the rad fan switch on a Murena
April 03, 2008, 07:13:12 AM
My fan has stopped cutting in, so the first place to look would be the switch I guess.

Before I get on my knees, can anyone point me the switch location?

Cheers,

Antony

On the radiator  :P

And I'm afraid getting on your knees won't help, you can't see it anyway. Maybe if you want to pray to someone else to do the job ??? You have to lift the front and get under it to see it. The thermostat is located above the lower radiator hose on the side of the radiator. It's easy to find once you are there.

Jack up the front and put on stands.  Now get underneath with a torch and look just below the upper main outlet hose connection on the left hand side.  You will see the switch with two connecting wires, fitted into the left hand side of the radiator.  Just a slight correction to Anders mail as the lower main hose is the inlet on the right hand side.  And for completeness the small hose at the top on the right hand side is the bleed back to the header tank.

You can change the switch in situ without removing anything else IF you have the right tools!  Whilst changing it, you should take the time to attach another two wires (properly) to the originals and bring those back up inside the car and fit to an on/off switch.  Then if ever the radiator switch does not work, you can use this over-ride switch and save your engine from overheating.

Thanks chaps, I'll have a look this weekend. My 205 has an internal switch for the fan and it seems like a good idea.
