Or fit an air box on the carbs the reduce the intake noise and temps or do you want less power?

. there is no room for an airbox just the 2 thin  pan filters..Icannot exploit the power because over 3500 rpm the noise just overpowers you and  you lose the ability to ,determin what is making what noise ie ;is it a wheel bearing noise ,is there a bushen knocking or is there a gearbox drone. In other words I cannot feel as one with the car.I probably sound crazy to you but  I am determined to enjoy this car and just need a bit of advice from other murena  owners. Regards TOG

I think I know what you are thinking about, having side draught webers on my car, though with an airbox. My installation is a little different from yours, being based on a copy of the original S-manifold, which has the carbs sitting in a 15 degree tilted position. The inlet is thus well above the fuel tank.

Here's a photo of my installation:

The usual solution with the straight manifold like you have is to reduce the size of the fuel tank, usually by cutting it off an glueing/plastic welding it together. That will allow an airbox to be fitted.

The alternative is to fit a single downdraught carb on the standard manifold. The Holbay Fast Road cam deals very well with this induction system on the Solex 34CIC carb from the standard 2.2. I used to have this setup, including the 4-in-1 exhaust manifol until I converted to sidedraughts on mine, and the standard cam still allows plenty of breathing to the cam and the engine spins happily past 6500 rpm. So you will not miss much power with that installation, but the sound will be much different - lower, that is. This is a bolt-on conversion. Fuel supply may have to be changed a bit, though, depending on how it is installed now.

This is my engine room before with the single carb:

It's not so bad, me and my wife in 4th month of pregnancy, we've spent 4 days and cca 3000kms in Murena S last year and our baby now just love driving in car and is always sleeping (except of my company Skoda Octavia II which is horrible uncomfotable).

No problem, Tog.

The manifold was offered by Simon, he still advertises it, but I don't know if he has any. It's a replica of the original S-manifold. http://www.simon-auto.de/

My airbox was welded up made by a friend out of mild iron plate. I have the drawings if you want to copy.

Yes, I'm still using the 4-in-1 exhaust with the Weber's.

Your car is Zac's old car, right? If so, ask Roy Gillard - he would know for certain what cam you have. I think it has been well prepared.

The 2.2S is not noisy since it also has an airbox on the inlet. Here is a photo of the installation:

Tog: simmilar question to You - if I understood well, You have Dell'Ortos 45 + cam (nobody knows which) + 4-1 pipes, and how many HP?

I think  this is George Bell's old car that was advertised in the UK Matra Club magazine over the last couple of months.

Some UK members on here will know the car.

Any Photos?

No, it's not that car Anders.  Jean-Luc Girard has bought that Murena.

This one was George Bell's car.  I suspect it has a Holbay cam, particularly if it was done by SCU in the eighties, but many of those cars were not set up well in my experience and opinion and the 45 carbs. are too big, drink fuel and the power and delivery is not as good as yours was when you got it from me.

And still is, even with my twin sidedraughts ;)

I tend to agree on the 45 carbs, they won't add anything. The Holbay breathes well through 40 mm carbs. And the single carb, as well.

It was indeed noisy.
