keys for my car
March 28, 2007, 09:21:32 PM
Im down to one key for my car, is it possible to get keys cut for my lock/ignition or is it something i must get from peugout? my passenger side door is really stiff and bends the key, so i have to straghten it before it fits the ignition.... fun and games.

It seems there are Murenas with central locking? was that an optional extra or something that people have added since?

I don't know about the central locking but you should have no problem getting keys cut.  Mind you they will probably use horrible blanks with no plastic coating.

The solution to the latter problem is to buy one of the Matra Sport key rings that the MEC-UK offers ;)

About central locking, yes some Murena's (mostly 2.2's I think) have central locking as a factory installed option, but many have probably been "enhanced" later with this feature.

I think thats my problem, its a cheap key that is made of cheese, when it bends i cant start the car, so i have to straighten the key so its perfect (in my vice) before it will turn the ignition, he he, i love my car...

Central locking system was the original eqiupement for 2,2 S. For 2,2 it was only as an option. I demounted the original locking system from my Murena 2,2 S, because I instaled the alarm system with remote control. If somebody is interested in, let me know.
I think that one friend of mine still has the original Talbot keys. It's an intermediate product which You can brush by Your key as a guide.

So if I send you a key, could he make a copy?

I really don't think getting a spare key cut for the Matra will be a problem. I should think any Mr Minit shop will be able to do it. I think they can supply generic plastic coatings too.

I only have one key for my car so I might put my guess into practice next week.

Why to make it so complicated? I can send You the "blind" key and You can make a copy of Yours, somewhere in Your city ;)
Tommorow, I will speak to my friend if he still have few of them and I can send it directly to You.

Great... I forgot to ask: will it be with plastic cover? The ones I have do have a Talbot mark, but only one with plastic on.
