Hi and welcome to the forum!

Since you've got that particular problem your Espace must be a JE/Phase III model! :)

I think the best way to get in is to remove the entire side mirror assembly, which is done from inside. There's a bolt under the speaker in the dash, and there may also be one in the engine room, but I don't remember. Removing the mirror, you risk breaking it or something it's a attached to, and you probably have better access from the inside.

Let us know what you find!

Problems with temperature sensing are just as often caused by poor connection other places than right at the sensor.

On my J63 it was under the dash - left side speaker area. On my JE I don't really know yet. I tidied everything around the computer/fusebox which seemed to help, but sometimes it goes haywire anyway.

emm the task is more difficult than i think, i will try to remove the whole mirror this weekend.  i been tying to remove the glass to no avail. i saw that the temperature sensor is not connected to the glass, which i think it should.

That would be a bad idea as the mirror glass is heated when you turn on the rear window heater! I think the sensor is fitted somewhere inside the mirror assembly.

Don't be afraid to take the whole mirror off,  it isn't that difficult.

you are right, i finally have courage to do it, if it is done gently the mirror will not brake.  changing the temp sensor is straight forward, now my outside temp reading is correct. thanks all

Where did you buy your temp sensor? My Renault parts guy can't find the part number on the item... :(

From memory, it is combined with the mirror wiring in a small loom Anders.  See section 56 on various external accessories.

Thanks a lot Roy, I'll call him tomorrow and check if he found it - otherwise I'll give him this hint!

Can you confirm that it's actually in the loom?

The loom was all we could find, but the description of the loom does not mention the sensor, so Mogens (my parts guy) thought it would be odd for the sensor to be included. He hasn't sold one before. As it's really only a minor problem, I'm not in a hurry and want to be right before I spend money on a part that - maybe - includes the sensor. You probably know what I mean.

WKL could probably also add his knowledge here.

thanks,
Anders :)

Although this was answered in an email, for others here, the answer is yes, it is in the loom as can be seen from the picture, and I have replaced one on a vehicle too.
